Nick Williams awarded Emma Warriss Award

The Emma Warriss Postgraduate Research Student Prize.

This prize aims to recognizes a student who has been key in establishing a fun and cohesive environment within the department.

Since the first lockdown Nick introduced a workout activity which originally started as the “Saturday Morning LIVE” and changed to “Friday Lunchtime LIVE” in the second lockdown. Up to 15 of Nick’s peers and seniors met up over zoom and did a 20-30 minute workout which was suitable for all abilities. The workout took place for 20 weeks over the last 12 months. Everyone who completed the course got a certificate for their commitment and stated that they really enjoyed it.

ll the PhD students in the department of Materials were invited to nominate the student they felt made the biggest impact in establishing a fun and cohesive environment and once nominations were made a selection panel decided on the winner.

Nick will recieve a certificate and £500.
