Final year student Oscar Williams won the Best Oral Presentation Winner at the UCL-Peking University Symposium on Materials, Energy, and Catalysis in September 2018.  Oscar’s presentation was entitled Observing the wanderings of gold atoms: A scanning tunnelling microscopy investigation.

Both UCL and Peking University (PKU) have a strong presence in materials innovations in the research areas of Energy and Catalysis and have invested in generations of young scientists that are being encouraged to lead the future of research in chemistry and engineering around the world.

The CDT provided me with the tools to develop my career as a researcher and to participate in Outreach activities to broaden my skills. I really enjoyed my time as a student in the CDT and look forward to continuing collaborations with the research groups there.
